Specify the Alarm Banner’s Scroll to Top Behavior
The Alarm Banner has a scroll bar that allows you to scroll up and down the alarms in the list. By using the Options window, you can define whether ClearSCADA scrolls to the top of the Alarm Banner when an alarm is:
- Acknowledged
- Redirected (manually)
- Removed
You can also use the Options window to enable or disable the Alarm Banner arrow, which can be shown on the Alarm Bell button. When enabled, the Alarm Banner arrow is shown in the middle of the Alarm Bell button, and it indicates that there are more alarms above the top alarm that you can currently see. For example, if the Alarm Banner was sized so that it could show 5 alarms, and you scrolled down to view alarms the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th alarms in the list, the arrow would be shown. It would indicate that there are more alarms above the top alarm shown in the list (which would be the 3rd alarm in this case).
To define the Scroll to Top settings for the Alarm Banner:
- Log on via a user account that has the Configure Options permission, and then display the Options window (see Display the Options Window in the ClearSCADA Guide to Client Administration).
- Select the Alarms and Events tab.
- Use the Scroll to top on acknowledge, remove or manual redirect check box to choose how you want the Alarm Banner to behave:
- Select the check box if you want the Alarm Banner to scroll to the top when an alarm is acknowledged, removed or manually redirected.
- Clear the check box if you do not want the Alarm Banner to scroll to the top when an alarm is acknowledged, removed or redirected (manually).
Whenever a user acknowledges an uncleared alarm, the Alarm Banner continues to display that alarm entry . If applicable, the Alarm Banner scrolls to the alarm’s new position in the Alarm Banner List. Whenever a user acknowledges an unacknowledged cleared alarm, ClearSCADA removes the cleared entry and continues to display that part of the Alarm Banner List.
- Use the Show Arrow When Not Scrolled to Top check box (in the Indicators section) to define whether the Alarm Banner arrow is used:
- Select the check box if you want the Alarm Banner arrow to be shown when the Alarm Banner has been scrolled (and there are more alarms above those shown on screen).
- Clear the check box if you want to disable the Alarm Banner arrow.
To apply the scroll to top settings that you have chosen, select the Option window’s OK button. The settings will be applied to the ViewX client (on which you defined the changes).
