Configure an OLEDB Client - System Connection
After installing the Data Access components, you need to create a connection between the ClearSCADA server and the computer that is running the Third Party OLEDB application(s). The connection will allow the Third Party application(s) to access the ClearSCADA database.
To configure an OLEDB client - System connection:
- Run the ClearSCADA Client Applet. (Select Start>All Programs>Schneider Electric ClearSCADA>Configure Connections).
- At the User Account Control prompt, select Yes to allow the ClearSCADA Client applet to run.
- When the ClearSCADA Client applet runs, select the Add button to display the ClearSCADA Client Configuration window.
- Use the ClearSCADA Client Configuration window to create a new connection. The configuration you need to define is the same as that for a ViewX - System connection, with these settings available:
- System Name—Define the System Name and Type for a ViewX Client - System Connection
- Type—You need to select ClearSCADA Server Define the System Name and Type for a ViewX Client - System Connection
- Use Client Licensing—Enable or Disable Client Licensing
- Visible in ViewX—Define Whether the System is Visible in ViewX
- Node Name—Define the Node Name for a Client - System Connection
- Node Cost—Define the Node Cost for a Client - System Connection
- Compress—Define the Client Compression Settings for a ViewX Client Connection
- Advanced—Define the Port and Poll Timeouts and Intervals for a ViewX Client Connection.
- When you have defined the connection settings, select the OK button to apply them. The Client Configuration window is closed and the new connection is added to the list on the ClearSCADA Client applet.
- Select the Licenses button to display the Client Licensing window. Use this window to associate the Third Party OLEDB client with a data access license Associate a Third-Party OLEDB Client with a Data Access License.
- Close the ClearSCADA Client Applet.
- Run the Third-Party OLEDB application and configure it to access the ClearSCADA database. The procedure for setting up access varies depending on the applications being used. Please refer to your Third Party application documentation for more details.
