Add a Variable

To add a Variable to the ClearSCADA database:

  1. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar in the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients).
  2. In the Database Bar, right-click on the System or Group for which you want to add a Variable.
    A context sensitive menu is displayed.
  3. Select the Create New option.
    A further menu is displayed.
  4. Select the Variable option.
    A further menu is displayed.
  5. Select the type of Variable that you require (see Types of Variable).
  6. A Variable of the required type is added to the root of the System or to the selected Group (depending on your selection in Step 2), ready for you to enter its name.
  7. Enter a suitable name for the Variable (taking into account the ClearSCADA Naming Restrictions).
  8. Press the Enter key or select another part of the ViewX interface to confirm the entry.
