Column Headings for a BIT Value Map
These column headings are displayed for a BIT Value Map:
- Address—The unique identifier for the entry within the Value Map. The address is allocated automatically when you Specify the Map Size.
- Object—The name of the item. This information is inherited from the variable, point, or other type of value when you associate it with the Value Map.
- Bit Number—Use to specify an individual bit of a multi-bit value (for instance a single bit within a word or byte, or one bit of a multi-bit point).
Leave at the default of zero for mapping a value that only comprises one bit.
Example:
A 3-bit digital point is mapped to a BIT Value Map. In order to read the three bits of the digital value, three identical entries of the same digital are mapped to the Value Map. In order to map the three bits (0, 1, and 2), different bit numbers are allocated to each entry.
