Configuring a DDE Scanner

A DDE Scanner is logical functionality that runs within ClearSCADA and scans for data on a DDE server (any server connected to the ClearSCADA network, with which ClearSCADA communicates using the DDE protocol).

You can attach multiple scanners to each DDE server on your system. By specifying different scan rates and offsets, you can enable the DDE driver to scan certain data at different intervals and times to other data on the same server.

Configure scanner features using the fields on the DDE Scanner Form.

The Form has several tabs.

Use the fields on the DDE tab to specify the scan properties, such as the scan rate and offset, and the DDE Topic with which ClearSCADA is to exchange data (see Configure the DDE Properties).

For fields on other tabs, see Tabs That are Common to Many Configuration Forms in the ClearSCADA Guide to Simple Drivers.

For information on the minimal amount of configuration that you can undertake to produce a functional DDE Scanner in ClearSCADA, see Minimum Configuration.
