The Source attribute is common to many Status displays. The attribute indicates the location at which the item resides. The information shown varies, depending on the item.

The Source attribute displays the value Undefined if the item’s configuration is incomplete, in so far as the device with which the item is associated has not yet been specified.

For items on the DDE driver, the Source attribute displays information in this format:

DDE Item	Source Attribute
Server	Format	<Service>
	Example:	L2FDLSS (for an S5 PLC DDE Service)
Scanner	Format	<Service>|<Topic>
	Example:	L2FDLSS|STATION1 (for the Topic STATION1 running on the Service L2FDLSS)
Point	Format	<Service>|<Topic>!<Item>
	Example:	L2FDLSS|STATION1!DW53 (for an Item DW53. Topic and Service as examples above)
