The DNP3 protocol provides Frozen Counters that allow a DNP3 master (ClearSCADA) to request the outstation to create a frozen ‘snapshot’ of the values of its counters.
Use the fields within the Freeze section of the DNP3 tab to specify whether the outstation supports frozen counters, and whether ClearSCADA requires a response to freeze counter requests.
- Freeze Supported—Select this check box if the outstation supports DNP3 frozen counters, and you intend to send DNP3 freeze counter controls to the outstation. Use the outstation’s Freeze and Freeze and Clear pick actions to take snapshots of counter values (see Actions Associated with DNP3 Outstations).
- Clear the check box if the outstation does not support DNP3 frozen counters, or you do not intend to issue DNP3 freeze counter controls to the outstation.
- Request Response to Freeze (FC7 and 9)—Select this check box for ClearSCADA to request a response to any DNP3 Freeze Counter requests that it issues to the outstation.
- Clear the check box if responses are not required.
