Each IEC 60870-5 Logical Outstation on a ClearSCADA system represents a separate physical device or logical sector associated with an IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation (see Configuring an IEC 60870-5 Outstation).
Use the Parent Outstation field on the Remote tab of the IEC 60870-5 Logical Outstation Form to specify the IEC 60870-5 database item that is the Logical outstation’s ‘parent’ outstation.
The 'parent' outstation can be one of the following:
- IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation
- IEC 60870-5 Shared Outstation
- IEC 60870-5 Direct Link
- IEC 60870-5 Shared Link.
Use the field’s browse button to display a Reference browse window and select the required IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation from the window. (An IEC 60870-5 Direct Outstation can be the ‘parent’ for multiple IEC 60870-5 Logical Outstations.)
ATTENTION: Be aware that should communications be lost with the parent outstation, ClearSCADA will also lose communications with that outstation’s Logical outstations.
