Points Used on IEC 60870-5 KEMA Outstations
Throughout the ClearSCADA documentation suite ‘information objects’—the objects that can be monitored or controlled on an outstation—are referred to as ‘points’. You create and configure different types of point in ClearSCADA, to represent the different types of information object on each outstation.
IEC 60870-5 KEMA outstations support a combination of these point types:
- IEC 60870-5 KEMA Analog Input Point—see Configuring IEC 60870-5 KEMA Analog Points.
- IEC 60870-5 KEMA Analog Output Point—see Configuring IEC 60870-5 KEMA Analog Points.
- IEC 60870-5 KEMA Counter Point— (see Configuring IEC 60870-5 KEMA Counter Points)
- IEC 60870-5 KEMA Digital Input Point—see Configuring KEMA Digital Points.
- IEC 60870-5 KEMA Digital Output Point—see Configuring KEMA Digital Points.
Within ClearSCADA you need to configure one point of the appropriate type per information object on an IEC 60870-5 KEMA outstation. You configure the properties of each point using the appropriate IEC 60870-5 KEMA Point Form. Each Form has several tabs. For information on configuring each type of point, see the following topic:
Also refer to the following topics relating to digital and analog output points in the IEC 60870-5 Driver Guide:
- Specify how ClearSCADA Interprets an Input Point’s Cause of Transmission
- Specify the Type of Point Data that ClearSCADA is to Store Historically
- Configure the Common IEC 60870-5 Point Control Properties.
For information on the minimal amount of configuration that you can undertake to produce a functional IEC 60870-5 KEMA point in ClearSCADA, see Minimum Configuration.
For general information on creating a point and displaying a Point Form, see Configuring a Point in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Point Configuration.
