Information Object

The IEC 60870-5 protocol uses the term ‘information object’ to refer to an input or output on an outstation or other controlled device.

Throughout the ClearSCADA documentation suite an information object is referred to as a point.

On a ClearSCADA system that is running as an IEC 60870-5 slave, Filtered Value Maps are used to map ‘point’ data onto Information Objects, in order for the Controlling Station (SCADA master) to extract the required data. For more information, see Specify the Filtered Value Maps that Store the Source Data.
