The Simple Modbus Driver can communicate with Modbus Slaves and Modbus PLCs using either:
- Modbus RTU over a serial or TCP connection
- Modbus TCP over TCP.
With the Simple Modbus driver, you configure Scanners to determine which data gets polled at which frequency—the points on a Scanner are all polled at the same rate.
If your system has a simple configuration and the above functionality fulfills your system requirements, you can use either the ClearSCADA Simple Modbus Driver, or the ClearSCADA SCADAPack Modbus Driver to communicate with the Modbus devices on your system.
