Configuring an ODBC Query
For each separate request for data transfer between applications using ODBC standards, you need to configure an ODBC Query within ClearSCADA.
The ODBC Driver converts each query into a request that the other application’s database management system recognizes and to which it can respond and carry out the requested data transfer. (For example, a request to retrieve a particular block of data.)
You can configure more than one ODBC Query for each application with which you want ClearSCADA to transfer data.
Before configuring an ODBC Query, check that any necessary Preparation has been completed. You can then use the fields on the ODBC Query Form to configure the ODBC Query database items on your system.
The Form has several tabs.
This section explains the fields on the Query tab of the Form (see Configure the Query Properties).
For information on other tabs, see Tabs That are Common to Many Configuration Forms in the ClearSCADA Guide to Simple Drivers.
For aspects of connection configuration that are common to many types of database item, see the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration.
For information on the minimal amount of configuration that you can undertake to produce a functional ODBC Query, see Minimum Configuration.
