Configuring an OPC Scanner

An OPC Scanner is logical functionality that runs within ClearSCADA and scans for data on an OPC server (any server connected to the ClearSCADA network, with which ClearSCADA communicates using the OPC protocol).

You can attach multiple scanners to each OPC server on your system. By specifying different scan rates and offsets, you can enable the Simple OPC driver to scan certain data at different intervals and times to other data on the same server.

Configure scanner features using the fields on the OPC Scanner Form.

The Form has several tabs.

Use the fields on the Scanner tab to specify the scan properties, such as the scan rate and offset (see Configure the Scanner Properties).

For fields on other tabs, see Tabs That are Common to Many Configuration Forms in the ClearSCADA Guide to Simple Drivers.

For information on the minimal amount of configuration that you can undertake to produce a functional OPC Scanner in ClearSCADA, see Minimum Configuration.
