Preparation
You need to add an OPC Server for each server on your system with which you want to communicate using the OPC protocol.
To configure an OPC Server, you need to know the type of connection required to access the server, and the name of the node on which it is located if it is not on the same PC as the ClearSCADA database. You also need to know the read and write mechanisms that are supported by the server, along with the user name(s) and password(s) that allow the required access to the data on that server.
You also need to establish which features are required for each OPC server. You can configure each server to use a variety of features, including alarm redirection. However, many of these features are optional and have no effect on the success of communications. The optional features include:
- Alarm view
- Alarm Redirection
- User methods.
If the features listed above are not configured, they are not used for the selected server (they will be left blank).
