Introduction to the Pager Driver
This driver is a stand-alone driver. It provides additional functionality to enable ClearSCADA to interface with specific supported systems or devices. To interact successfully with such systems or devices, you need to:
- Install and run the driver
- Ensure that the driver is licensed
- Configure the required database items and settings on the driver
- Ensure that the database items (and any database items on which they depend) have valid, saved, configuration and are 'In Service'.
In this Guide, we provide information about the Pager driver and explain how you can configure your ClearSCADA system to utilize its features. When you have configured your Pager Services, Pager Channels, and User accounts as described, you will be able to use ClearSCADA to send messages to pager devices and mobile telephones.
The Pager Driver Guide consists of the following sections:
- Understanding the Pager Driver
- Protocols Supported by the Pager Driver
- Configuring Pager Devices in ClearSCADA
- Configuring a Pager Service
- Configuring a Pager Channel
- Configuring a User Account's Pager Properties
- Configuring Pager Server Settings
- Sending a Message to a Pager or Mobile Phone
- Using SMS to Trigger an Action
- Using Pager Specific Actions
- Pager Specific Alarm and Event Categories
- Pager Specific Status Display Attributes
- Pager-Specific Driver Log File Options.
The information in the Pager Driver Guide is designed to provide you with information on the pager-specific properties that you will need to use when configuring your system to use the Pager Driver. For information on those properties that feature on Pager items and displays but are not specific to pagers, you should refer to the core (non-driver-specific) documentation.
If you are familiar with how the Pager Driver works and the protocols it supports, we recommend that you refer to Configuring Pager Devices in ClearSCADA. There, you will find information on the various items you need to configure to allow the Pager Driver to send messages to pagers and mobile telephones.
When you have configured the necessary database items, you can use ClearSCADA's actions to send messages manually. Alternatively, you can configure ClearSCADA to send messages in response to alarms or periodically.
