For a Pager Channel to become functional (online), the minimum properties you need to configure are:
- The communications port for the channel
- The Pager Service with which the channel is associated
- These connection-specific properties:
- Serial connection—the port to which the serial cable represented by the Pager Channel is connected
- Remote serial connection—the host name of the PC that is running the Port Server application, and the port on the PC to which the serial cable is connected
- TCP/IP connection—The TCP/IP type, the host address, and the port number.
You also need to put the Pager Channel In Service and save the configuration.
This will result in a functional channel that uses the default configuration settings.
