SMS Messages Rejected by the Pager Driver

If you send an SMS command that is rejected by the Pager Driver, an alarm is raised. The alarm Message contains a description of the reason for rejecting the SMS command, which includes:

SMS command rejected by Pager Driver

NOTE: If an alarm Message includes Failed to process incoming SMS command, the SMS command has been rejected by ClearSCADA. For more information, see SMS Messages Rejected by ClearSCADA.

The Pager Driver rejects any messages that do not contain the required components for the SMS protocol. The SMS protocol is defined in the document 'Digital cellular telecommunications system (Phase 2+); Use of Data Terminal Equipment - Data Circuit terminating; Equipment (DTE-DCE) interface for Short Message Service (SMS) and Cell Broadcast Service (CBS) (GSM 07.05 versions 5.5.0.' which is available online at http://www.etsi.org.

If the Pager Driver has rejected your message, you will need to determine why the message did not contain the components expected in an SMS message. The reason for this will be related to your particular device or your service provider. We suggest you contact your service provider for assistance.

Your service provider may need the information in the Pager Driver log file for their investigation. You can access the driver log by following these steps:

  1. Run the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool (see Accessing the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool in the ClearSCADA Guide to Server Administration).
  2. Scroll down to the Registry branch.
  3. Select the DriverPager folder in the Registry branch.
The contents of the DriverPager folder are shown in the right-hand pane.
  4. Look at the Data value of the LogFileBase file. This shows the location of the log file for your drivers.
  5. In Windows Explorer, browse to the log files for the drivers (at the location you discovered in step 3).
  6. Double-click on the DriverPager log(s) to display the log file(s) for the Pager Driver.
  7. Search the log file for the message that you sent. You can do this by searching for the body of your message.
  8. Examine the entry for your message. Information about the rejection will be included in the log file (in the details about your message). This information may help your service provider discover the cause of the problem.
