Adding a Random Generator
To create and configure an item in the database, you need to be logged on as a user with the Configure Database feature enabled, and allocated the relevant permissions (see User Accounts in the ClearSCADA Guide to Security).
To add a Random Generator to the database:
- Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar in the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients).
- In the Database Bar, right-click on the Group to which you want to add a new Random Generator.
- Select the Create New option.
A context-sensitive menu is displayed. - Select the Other option.
A context-sensitive menu is displayed. - Select Random Generator.
A Random Generator is added to the Group. It is selected automatically, ready for you to enter its name. - Give the Random Generator item a relevant name (see Naming Restrictions in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
After you have added the Random Generator, display its configuration Form (see Display a Form in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
The Random Generator Form has these tabs:
- Identification: Use to configure the Identification details (see Defining Identification Details in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
- User Methods: Use to define any custom pick actions (‘methods’) for the Random Generator (see Using the User Methods Tab to Define Custom Actions in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
- Alarm: Use to define optional features associated with any Random Generator alarms (see Defining an Item or Group’s Alarm Properties in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
- Redirection: Use to define any alarm redirections for the Random Generator (see Configure Alarm Redirections for an Item or Group in the ClearSCADA Guide to Alarm Redirection).
- Random Generator: Use to define specific properties for the Random Generator (see Configuring the Properties on the Random Generator)).
When you have finished defining the settings for the Random Generator item, save the changes you have made: see Saving Configuration Changes in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration.
