Terminology

Throughout most of the advanced driver documentation, the term ‘outstation’ is used to refer to any device such as a data logger, programmable logic controller (PLC), outstation, or RTU that is used to obtain data from measuring instruments or sensors.

Within the ClearSCADA SCADAPack Modbus documentation, the term ‘RealFLO controller’ is used to refer to a SCADAPack-series controller that is running RealFLO, and with which ClearSCADA communicates in order to retrieve flow calculation data. (If ClearSCADA is not to retrieve flow calculation data from a SCADAPack controller, you configure a SCADAPack controller, rather than a RealFLO controller, in the ClearSCADA database.)
