Specify Whether ClearSCADA Sets the Controller’s Clock
Use these properties on the SE RPC tab to specify whether and when ClearSCADA sets the controller's internal clock:
- Set Clock—Use this combo box to specify whether the ClearSCADA server sets the controller’s internal clock.
Choose from:
- Disabled—ClearSCADA is not to set the controller’s clock. Choose this option if the clock is set by other means, or the controller does not support setting of its clock by a remote application. (Version 2 SE Rod Pump controller firmware does not support setting of the controller's clock by a SCADA master.)
- Check Only—ClearSCADA checks whether the controller’s clock has drifted by more than the acceptable amount from the system time. Specify the acceptable amount of clock drift using the Maximum Time Difference field (see below). If ClearSCADA detects that the controller's clock has drifted by more than this amount, it raises an alarm.
- Enabled—ClearSCADA sets the controller’s clock:
- On establishing communications with the controller.
- At the frequency specified on the relevant Direct Channel Form (see Define when the Server Sets the Outstations’ Clocks in the ClearSCADA Guide to Advanced Drivers). This applies to Direct and Shared controllers that are using permanent communications to communicate with ClearSCADA.
- Whenever the driver detects a clock jump in the server (see Detecting a Change to the Server’s Clock in the ClearSCADA Guide to Server Administration).
ATTENTION: If the 'Enabled' option is selected but ClearSCADA detects that the controller is running Version 2 firmware, the functionality will be limited to ClearSCADA checking whether the controller's clock has drifted by more that the acceptable amount from the system time. This limitation is due to Version 2 SE Rod Pump controller firmware not supporting setting of the controller's clock by a SCADA master.
- Maximum Time Difference—Use this field to specify the acceptable amount of time by which the controller's internal clock can differ from the system time. If ClearSCADA detects that the controller's clock has drifted by more than this amount, it raises an alarm. Specify the maximum acceptable time difference in the OPC Time Format.
Specify 0 to disable the clock drift checking feature.
