Communications State - Failed: Assign to Remote COM Port Failed

A channel can fail due to errors occurring on the connection between the driver and the port server when the port is being assigned.

We recommend that you:

  1. Check the network connection by 'pinging' the remote computer from the main server. To do this, access the Microsoft Windows Command Prompt and enter:
  2. Ping <IP Address or name of remote computer>

  3. Do not enter the angle brackets.
  4. If the network connection is working correctly, the remote computer server will return data that you will see in the Command Prompt window. As this confirms that there is not a fault with your network we recommend that you contact Schneider Electric for assistance.
  5. If there is no reply, there is a network fault.
