Communications State - Failed: Unable to Connect to TCP/IP Port
If the TCP/IP connection between the servers and the remote computer cannot be established, the corresponding channel will fail.
We recommend that you:
- Check that the Node Name that is defined in the configuration of the remote serial channel corresponds to the name or IP address of the remote computer.
- Check the network connection by 'pinging' the remote computer from the main server. To do this, access the Microsoft Windows Command Prompt and enter:
-
Ping <IP address or name of remote computer>
- Do not enter the angle brackets.
- If the network connection is working correctly, the remote computer server will return data that you will see in the Command Prompt window. There is not a fault with your network so proceed to step 3.
- If there is no reply, there is a network fault.
- Use the Microsoft Windows Services window to check that the Port Server service is running on the remote computer.
- Check any firewalls in place on your network. The Port Server (TCP/IP port 20876) has to be available (not blocked).
