Define Descriptions for Discrete Point States

You can use the Descriptions section of the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool to define the discrete point state descriptions. You can access the descriptions that you define via the Description combo boxes for states on Digital Point Forms.

NOTE: Discrete Point State descriptions are also available on Forms for specific types of point that have distinct, separate states.

Descriptions for discrete point states are available for selection in the state Description combo boxes on the Digital Point Forms (and selected other Forms).

The descriptions define the options that are available from the Description combo boxes for digital point states. The descriptions can be overridden with manual entries if required.

To add a discrete point state description:

  1. Access the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool (see Accessing the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool).
  2. Expand the Database Configuration branch.
  3. Select Descriptions.
    The Descriptions section is shown.
  4. Select the Add button in the Discrete Point States section.
A new description is added to the list of Discrete Point States descriptions. It is selected automatically, ready for you to enter the description.
  5. Enter the description, for example, Maintenance.
  6. Press the Enter key to confirm the entry.
The description is now an option in the Description combo boxes for digital point states.

To check that the Discrete State description has been configured, display the Form for a digital point, select the Digital Point tab, and select a Description combo box—the custom description should be available.

Now you can define more descriptions or continue with the server configuration process:
