Define the Server’s Historic Modified and Annotation Life Settings
Modified historic data and annotations for historic data are not archived to disk as they can usually be stored online without having a detrimental effect on system performance. This is due to the small size of modified historic data and annotation records and the fact that there are usually a low amount of such records. The modified historic data and annotations are made available online by being stored on the servers in the system architecture.
By default, each server is set to store modified historic data and annotations for 520 weeks (10 years). For many systems, this setting is appropriate. However, you may choose to extend the number of weeks if your system is expected to continue running for over 10 years. Extending the number of weeks will mean that the modified historic data and annotations can be stored for a longer time but it will also place an extra demand on the server’s resources. The extra demand is negligible and is unlikely to affect system performance.
You can change the amount of time for which each server stores modified historic data and annotation data by using the Server Configuration Tool’s System Configuration>Partners settings. The Miscellaneous tab of the Partners settings has Historic Modified Life and Historic Annotation Life fields which you can use to change the number of weeks for which the historic modified and historic annotations data is stored on the server.
If your system is not expected to run for more than 10 years, we recommend that you leave the default settings of 520 weeks in place.
