Define the Type of Item with which an Extra Link Field can be Associated
When you add an extra link field, you need to specify the Target Type. This setting defines the type of item that can be selected in the link field when it is on a Form. For example, if you set the Target Type to CSCADAPackMPoint, you will only be able to use the link field to associate an item with a SCADA Pack Modbus point.
To define the target type, you need to use the Target Type setting on the Edit Field window. To access the Edit Field window, see Add a New Extra Field. You can also use the Edit Field window to modify the Target Type of an existing custom field (see Modify an Existing Extra Field).
When you have displayed the Edit Field window, use the Target Type setting to choose the type of database item that can be selected via the link field:
- Target Type—Use the Target Type combo box to select the type of item that the link field will allow you to associate with the item. The Target Type options correspond to different types of database item.
When you have defined the Target Type setting, you can continue to define the other field settings as required.
