Extra Database Fields
You can use ViewX to add extra fields (custom fields) to the database. The fields can be used to store links to other database items, lists of items (combo boxes), strings (data entry fields), Boolean configuration data (check boxes), or can be extra value fields.
The extra fields allow you to define additional configuration settings that are specific to your system. They also allow your system to store additional values that can be used by various applications.
This section describes the different Types of Extra Database Field and explains how to:
- Display the Metadata Window
- Create or Modify an Extra Field
- Create or Modify an Extra Label
- Remove an Extra Configuration Field or Extra Label.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the database structure before you attempt to add or remove database fields (see Welcome to the Guide to the Database in the ClearSCADA Guide to the Database).
