Manual Changeover with Server Shutdown

If you need to perform a manual changeover, we recommend that you use the Change Main Server action (see Manual Changeover without Server Shutdown). This is because it allows the changeover to take place without requiring any of your servers to shutdown, and so your system can run continuously while the changeover takes place. It also allows you to choose which Standby server switches to become the Main server.

However, if you wish, you can perform a manual changeover that requires a server shutdown. Performing a changeover in this way will mean:

To perform a manual changeover that requires a server shutdown, stop the ClearSCADA server on the Main server (see Stop the ClearSCADA Server). This causes a changeover to take place as ClearSCADA performs a changeover automatically whenever the Main server is stopped intentionally or stops because of a fault. As soon as the Main server stops, one of the Standby servers becomes the Main server (ClearSCADA arbitrates to determine which of the other servers becomes Main).

To restart the ClearSCADA server, see Restart the ClearSCADA Server.

NOTE: If the server is not starting as expected, you should display the information in the DBStartup log file and contact Schneider Electric (see Access the DBStartup Log File). We will use the information in the DBStartup log file to assess the situation and help you find a solution.
