Search Key Fields
Search key fields are fields that contain a string of characters and/or numbers. You can add extra character search key fields to a database table. The database maintains an index for each field to allow for fast and efficient searching.
Example:
A Grid Reference search key field is added to each outstation in the database. The Grid Reference is used to define the geographical location of each site.
The outstations are configured and have the relevant map coordinates defined in their Grid Reference fields.
A user needs to display a list of the outstations that are used at a site with the Grid Reference TL65. On the Filter window for the Outstations List, the user defines the filter as:
The user selects the OK button and the Outstations List is displayed. It is filtered so that it only displays those outstations that have TL65 as their Grid Reference.
