Server Snapshot Log Files

ClearSCADA includes a snapshot feature which takes data from the server at regular intervals and stores the data in log files. The server snapshot log files are useful as they provide a history of the server status, which Schneider Electric may be able to use for diagnostic purposes.

There can be a maximum of two server snapshot log files, each with a limit of 2MB. To begin with, your system will write the snapshot data to the files DBSnapshot_001.log and DBSnapshot_002.log. When the DBSnapshot_002.log file becomes full, a new snapshot log file called DBSnapshot_003.log is created for new data. The DBSnapshot_003.log file replaces the DBSnapshot_001.log file (there can only be 2 snapshot log files). Similarly, when the DBSnapshot_003.log file becomes full, a DBSnapshot_004.log file is created and the DBSnapshot_002.log file is deleted. This means that the two server snapshot log files should contain the most recent 4MB of server snapshot data.

The server snapshot data is retrieved and stored in the snapshot log file(s) every 30 minutes.

To access a server snapshot log file, right-click on the server icon in the Windows taskbar and select the DBSnapshot_<Snapshot File Number>.log option (where <Snapshot File Number> is the number of the snapshot file, for example, 003 or 004). The log file will be displayed in a text editor program such as Microsoft Notepad.

The snapshot file contains data that was shown on the Server Status Tool at the time the snapshot was taken (every 30 mins, starting at the beginning of the hour).
