For a Simatic S7 scanner to become functional (online), you need to:
- Specify the Channel through which the scanner communicates
- Specify the address of the PLC that the scanner is to scan
- Specify the PLC Type
- Specify the Data Length
- Specify the Host Address (only If the scanner is to use ISO over TCP communications).
You also need to put the scanner In Service and save the configuration.
These are the minimum requirements and, when specified, will result in a functional scanner that uses the default configuration settings.
