Introduction to the TBox Driver
This driver is an advanced driver. It provides additional functionality to enable ClearSCADA to interface with specific supported devices using a particular protocol. To interact successfully with such devices, you need to:
- Install and run the driver
- Ensure that the driver is licensed
- Configure the required database items and settings on the driver
- Ensure that the database items (and any database items on which they depend) have valid, saved, configuration and are 'In Service'.
TBox is a range of RTUs produced by CSE Semaphore. TBox combines alarm notification, data logging, integral web server, IP telemetry, and programmable automation.
The TBox driver communicates with ClearSCADA using a protocol called TComm, which incorporates the Modbus protocol with extensions specifically for TBox functionality.
This guide covers the functions of ClearSCADA controlling the TBox using TComm version 4.3.0.247. The TBox driver allows a ClearSCADA system to retrieve data from, and control points on, TBox RTUs.
The TBox driver documentation explains:
- Terminology of which you need to be aware
- The main differences between the TBox driver and the general Advanced Drivers (see TBox-Specific Information)
- How to configure TBox-specific features and items within the ClearSCADA database (seeConfiguring TBox Devices in ClearSCADA).
The documentation also covers driver-specific aspects that are of interest to system administrators and engineers when investigating unexpected behavior relating to the TBox driver. For information, see:
