Accepting Local Configuration Changes
If you change the configuration of a Field Device locally, the Field Device will signal ClearSCADA. The signal is used by ClearSCADA to alert users that the configuration in the Field Device may be different to the corresponding configuration in ClearSCADA. The alert can be presented as:
- An event logged in the Event Journal (and shown on the Events List)
- A Local Configuration entry on the View Status dialog box for the WITS Outstation. This states "Changed" or "Unchanged" (see WITS-Specific Status Display Attributes).
- An animation on a Mimic (the LocalConfigChanged property in the CWITSOS database table can be animated). For more details, see Animations in the ClearSCADA Guide to Mimics.
If the local configuration has been changed, you can:
- Upload the local configuration so that it replaces the configuration for the Field Device in ClearSCADA (see Upload Configuration (WITS Outstation))
- Download ClearSCADA's configuration for the Field Device so that it replaces the local configuration (see Download Configuration (WITS Outstation))
-
Accept that the configuration in ClearSCADA is different to the local configuration. To do this, you select the Accept Local Configuration pick action for the WITS Outstation item. If you select the Accept Local Configuration pick action, the local configuration flag in the Field Device is cleared, but any further changes to the local configuration will be reported to ClearSCADA (and presented as events, status updates, animations).
If you make and accept local changes to the incremental configuration, you may later decide to discard these changes. To do this, you will need to download all configuration from ClearSCADA, and not just any changes made in ClearSCADA. You can only remove all of the local changes by downloading all configuration.
If you make local changes but do not accept them, and then download only configuration changes from ClearSCADA, the entire incremental configuration is downloaded automatically. This operation is designed to remove the local changes.
If you make local changes to the bulk configuration, downloading only the configuration changes is sufficient to remove all of the local changes. This applies irrespective of whether you have accepted the local changes, as a bulk configuration file will be downloaded.
