Example Configuration - Talus T4e and ClearSCADA

This example shows how ClearSCADA can be setup to communicate with a Schneider Electric Talus T4e Field Device via a network connection.

During the example, you will setup a Schneider Electric Talus T4e using its Configuration Application. This will create a WITS bulk configuration file and matching incremental configuration file. Then, using ViewX, you will create database items to represent the Field Device and communications infrastructure (in your ClearSCADA database). Finally, you will import the incremental configuration file and the bulk configuration file into your ClearSCADA database.

We have split this example up into sub-sections to make it easier for you to follow. The sub-sections should be completed in the following order:

  1. Example Part 1 - Configure the Talus T4e
  2. Example Part 2 - Configure the WITS Items in ClearSCADA
  3. Example Part 3 - Test Communications and Synchronize the Configuration

NOTE: When configuring a WITS Field Device and its corresponding Outstation database item, it is important that the configuration settings match. So if you have enabled a feature in the Field Device's Configuration Application, that same feature also has to be enabled in the Outstation item's configuration in ViewX. For the purpose of this example, we have instructed you to set some of the Talus T4e's settings to match the settings that are in place for Outstation items by default.
