You can use ViewX's Export Profile action to export a copy of a device profile XML file to another location, for example, to a network drive. This means you can use ClearSCADA as a repository for your Field Device profiles: you can import the vendor-supplied XML file, store and view it in ClearSCADA, and export it if required. The XML file that ClearSCADA exports is exactly the same as the file that was originally supplied by the vendor.
To export a WITS device profile XML file from ClearSCADA:
- Run ViewX and log on via a user account that has the Configure permission.
- Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar in the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients).
- Use the Database Bar to browse to the Device Profile database item that contains the XML file you want to export.
- Right-click on the Device Profile item and select the Export Profile option.
The Export Profile window is displayed.NOTE: The Export Profile option is only available if the Device Profile contains an XML file (i.e. a device profile has been imported into the item previously).
- Use the Export Profile window to select the required location for the export file and also to give the file a name. We recommend that you define a descriptive name so that other users can easily identify the purpose of the XML file.
- Select the Save button.
