Historic Data Filter for WITS Database Points
You can use the WITS Point Form to specify what type of data is stored in the ClearSCADA historic database for a point. The Historic Data Filter settings allow you to choose from:
- Static—Stores data retrieved in DNP3 Class 0 or Level 3 scans historically. For details on these scans, see DNP3 Integrity and Data Classes in the ClearSCADA Guide to the DNP3 Driver.
- State Change Events—Stores data relating to a point value crossing a limit or changing state. The DNP3 events and logged events for the point are stored in the historic database. For details on the types of event, see Severity Types and Actions for WITS Database Points.
- Other Events—Stores data relating to non-state change events historically. These can include DNP3 Object flag changes, and proprietary events, such as those created for significant change logging.
- Periodic—Stores periodic data for the point in the historic database. If you have enabled periodic data logging for the point, you should enable the Periodic Historic Data Filter too, otherwise the Field Device will log data periodically, but the data will not be stored in ClearSCADA. For details on periodic logging for points, see Logged Data for WITS Database Points.
NOTE: You can only specify the Historic Data Filter settings for points that have Historic enabled (see Defining Historic Details for a Point in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Point Configuration).
Many people find that the default settings (for points with Historic enabled) are suitable for their needs. The default settings have State Change Events, Other Events and Periodic enabled.
To specify which point data is stored historically:
- Log on to ViewX via a user account that has the Configure permission, and then display the Form for the WITS database point (see Display a Form in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
- Select the <Point Type> tab, for example, select the Analog Point tab on the Analog Point Form.
- In the Historic Data Filter section, use the check boxes to specify whether the ClearSCADA stores each type of data historically. (Select the appropriate check box to store the data historically; clear if you do not want to store the data historically).
- Save the configuration.
