Log Files
Associated with: WITS Outstations.
The Log Files attribute is a Health Check Status item.
A Field Device may support log files that store time-stamped point data and events ((see WITS Data Logging)). Periodically, ClearSCADA will retrieve this logged data (for more information on setting the polling interval (see Specify the Polling Interval and Offset for Logged Data)).
The log files can only store a finite amount of data. The Log Files attribute indicates the fill status of the log files as reported by the Field Device. The possible states are as follows:
- Overflowed
- Filling
- OK.
ClearSCADA may raise an alarm if the Field Device reports that a log file has overflowed. To configure this alarm, you use the Severity settings in the Health Check Logging section of the WITS tab in the Outstation Form. The default setting is for ClearSCADA to raise an alarm ((see Define the Severity for Health Check Logging)).
A Field Device may report that a log file is filling when its size exceeds a percentage of its maximum size. It will continue to report that the log file is filling until its size falls below a percentage of its maximum size (or other vendor-specified measure).
You can find these thresholds in the device profile ((see Display a WITS Device Profile)).
ClearSCADA may log an event if the Field Device reports that the log file is filling. To configure event logging, you use the Severity settings in the Health Check Logging section of the WITS tab in the Outstation Form. The default setting is for ClearSCADA to log an event ((see Define the Severity for Health Check Logging)).
