The Software Version attribute shows the version of firmware that runs in the device type to which the device profile relates.
You can find the device manufacturer's software version in the Device Identification section of the device profile ((see Display a WITS Device Profile)).
A Field Device has a set of DNP3 device attributes that ClearSCADA reads whenever it establishes communications with the Field Device. The Software Version (ID:242) attribute should match the Software Version attribute in the device profile. If the versions do not match, it might mean that you are using the wrong device profile.
