If your WITS Field Device supports network communications, you can configure it to communicate with ClearSCADA via an IPv4 network. (The Water Industry Telemetry Standard covers IPv6 network connections, but ClearSCADA supports IPv4 only).
As part of the network configuration, you will need to specify various settings on the Network tab of the WITS Outstation Form. (For information on displaying the Outstation Form, see Display a Form in the ClearSCADA Guide to Core Configuration).
The Network tab is organized into separate sets of fields:
- The top set of fields apply to outbound connections (ClearSCADA to Field Device), and also allow you to enable or disable callback via a network connection.
- The Inbound Connections fields are for configuring the connections from your Field Device to ClearSCADA.
- The Scheduled Connection fields are for configuring your Field Device to initiate a network connection with ClearSCADA automatically, on a regular basis. For more information on these settings, see Scheduled Network Connections for a WITS Outstation.
To configure your Field Device to connect to ClearSCADA via a network, refer to the section that describes the type of functionality you require:
- Configure a WITS Field Device to Listen Only—for a Field Device that will only use a network connection that is initiated by ClearSCADA.
- Configure a WITS Field Device to Initiate Only—for a Field Device that will only use a network connection that it initiates itself.
- Configure a WITS Field Device to Listen and Initiate via the Same Connection—for a Field Device that can use Dual End Points. (Both ClearSCADA and the Field Device can initiate and listen via a single connection).
- Configure a WITS Field Device to Listen and Initiate via Separate Connections—for a Field Device that can initiate and listen, but only via different network connections.
