Create an X-Y Plot Item

Each X-Y Plot is represented in the database by an X-Y Plot database item. The X-Y Plot database item is used to store the settings that you make when you configure and save the X-Y Plot.

You need to create an X-Y Plot item for each X-Y Plot:

  1. Log on to ViewX via a User Account that has the Configure permission (for the System or Group that is to contain the X-Y Plot database item) and has the Configure Database setting enabled. The Configure permission is allocated via the Security window (see Allocating Security Permissions in the ClearSCADA Guide to Security) and the Configure Database setting is enabled via the User Form (see User Accountsin the ClearSCADA Guide to Security).
  2. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar in the ClearSCADA Guide to ViewX and WebX Clients).
  3. In the Database Bar, right click on the system or Group that is to contain the X-Y Plot item, and then select Create New>Other>X-Y Plot from the context sensitive menus.
A new X-Y Plot item is added to the database. It is selected automatically, ready for you to define its name.
  4. Enter a suitable name for the X-Y Plot and then press the Enter key or select another part of the interface to confirm your entry.

When you have created an X-Y Plot item, you can proceed to display it in Design mode (see Display an X-Y Plot in Design Mode).
